How Data Is Stored
Pocket is built on an offline-first architecture. All of your financial data — transactions, categories, budgets, and reports — is stored locally on your device by default. The app is fully functional without any internet connection.
If you choose to enable optional cloud synchronization, your data is securely backed up to Firebase (Google) servers. This allows you to access your data across multiple devices and restore it if needed. Cloud sync is disabled by default and is never activated without your explicit action.
You are always in control of where your data lives. You can disable cloud sync at any time from within the app settings.
How We Use Your Data
We use your data exclusively to provide the features of the Pocket app. Specifically:
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, analytics, or any commercial purpose. Your financial information is never used beyond what is needed to run the app for you.
Firebase & Google Services
When optional cloud sync is enabled, Pocket uses Firebase — a platform provided by Google LLC — to handle secure authentication and cloud data storage. Firebase processes your data in accordance with Google's privacy standards.
Firebase may collect certain technical information such as device identifiers and IP addresses as part of its standard operations. This data is governed by Google's Privacy Policy, which you can review at policies.google.com/privacy.
We do not use Firebase Analytics, Firebase Crashlytics, or any other Firebase service that profiles user behavior.
Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party. Your financial information is private and will never be shared for commercial purposes.
The only third-party service that may process your data is Firebase (Google), and only when you have explicitly enabled cloud sync. No other external party has access to your data.
We may disclose your information only if required to do so by law, or if we have a good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with legal obligations or protect the rights and safety of our users.

Security
We take the security of your financial data seriously. Local data is stored using secure, structured storage on your device. When cloud sync is enabled, data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections and stored in Firebase with industry-standard security measures in place.
Account authentication is handled via Firebase Authentication, which uses secure sign-in protocols. We do not store your password — it is managed entirely by Firebase.
While we implement strong security practices, no method of data storage or transmission over the internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your account.
Children's Privacy
Pocket – Expense Tracker is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at the address below so that we can take appropriate action.
